Celebrating Western-Style
September 6–7

Who are the best-dressed cowboy and cowgirl? Which chili recipe has you going back for seconds? And who can hang onto that bucking bronco longest? Get all your questions answered at the 50th annual Mustang Western Days. With events scattered throughout town, the festival includes a Western Stampede Run, a car show, a parade and infinite ways to show off your Mustang pride.

A Family A-Fair
September 12–22

What better way to usher in fall than with the Oklahoma State Fair?  Oklahoma City’s State Fair Park hosts this end-of-summer tradition, which dates to 1907. Hop aboard the Ferris wheel, fill up on deep-fried treats, and cheer for the rodeo participants. With a dizzying array of rides, thrills, food, live music and even Disney On Ice shows, there’s something for all ages at this ticketed event.

Hungry for Heroes
September 21

Want to honor and raise funds for military veterans as well as enjoy a heaping helping of chili? Then Chuck Wagon for Heroes is for you. Come hungry to the Payne County Expo Center in Stillwater for some mouthwatering grub served up cowboy-style by the Wounded Veterans of Oklahoma. The Marlow Gunfighters will also put on an entertaining show. (Admission to this ticketed event is free for veterans and children ages five and under.)

October 4–6
Head to the Boat House District on the banks of the Oklahoma River for the 15th annual Oklahoma Regatta Festival in downtown Oklahoma City. Watch rowers of all ages test their mettle as their kayaks, dragon boats and rafts glide through the water. The family-friendly festival also features other exciting river sports as well as food-truck fare and beer gardens.

Keeping Things in Czech
October 5

Celebrate the area’s rich Czech heritage and help preserve Czech cultural traditions at downtown Yukon’s Oklahoma Czech Festival, now in its 54th year. Meet the Czech royalty decked out in colorful traditional costume, chow down on authentic kolaches and sausage, watch a parade down Main Street, catch a carnival ride, and learn how to polka.

The Stein Is Half-Full
October 17–20 

What’s more quintessentially October than, well, Oktoberfest? Designed in the spirit of Oktoberfest Munich, Linde Oktoberfest Tulsa brings German merriment to Oklahoma on the banks of the Arkansas River in Tulsa’s River West Festival Park. The 41st annual ticketed event serves up authentic German foods, beer, live bands, polka dancing, arts and crafts, and traditional games and competitions. (Children ages 12 and under are admitted free with an accompanying adult.)
